Bio

I am an Italian saxophonist working mainly with contemporary music and the performing arts.

Over time, I have become increasingly interested in what happens between interpretation and creation, and in the way music takes shape through working with others.

I co-founded Duo Dubois with percussionist Federico Tramontana. Since 2011, we have worked closely with composers and sound artists, developing new repertoire and projects that often move between written music, electronics, improvisation, and other forms of performance. This has taken us to the Darmstadt Ferienkurse, Unerhörte Musik in Berlin, Sound Plasma in Tallinn, DME Festival in Lisbon, MACRO in Rome, and IntAct Festival in Bangkok, among others.

I am also a member of Sidera Saxophone Quartet and Index Ensemble, and have collaborated with ICTUS Ensemble, Divertimento Ensemble, and the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia. I continue to perform as a soloist, with appearances at De Bijloke Muziekcentrum in Ghent, Mixtur Festival in Barcelona, and Accademia Chigiana in Siena. Along the way, I have contributed to recordings released by Stradivarius, 33-33 London, and Ema Vinci.

Music has gradually brought me into other fields as well. In 2024, I joined GRADUS: Passaggi per il nuovo at Reggio Parma Festival, where I developed a multidisciplinary project in dialogue with artists working in music, theatre, and choreography. Since then, theatre and dance have become increasingly present in what I do. This has included Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker’s choreographic creation for Hoketus and multidisciplinary productions directed by Andrée Ruth Shammah at Teatro Franco Parenti in Milan.

I studied with Mario Marzi at the Conservatorio Giuseppe Verdi in Milan and Jean-Yves Fourmeau at the Conservatoire à Rayonnement Régional de Cergy-Pontoise, before completing an Advanced Master in Contemporary Music at KASK Conservatorium Gent. I have also taught saxophone at the Conservatory of Reggio Calabria.

Many of the questions I have encountered while making music have eventually found their way into my research. I am currently a PhD candidate in Composition and Music Performance under the supervision of Laura Zattra, focusing on the analysis of collaborative practices between composers and performers in contemporary music.
